Byron Kehr and executive chef Dwayne Spencer plan to reopen York City landmark Roosevelt Tavern in late November early December. Byron, a former York County Resident began his culinary career graduating from the York County School of Technology. He brings with him 28 years of restaurant, hotel and corporate dining experience. Hi s experience includes local restaurants such as, The Hill and the Sheraton, Compass Group North America and Lancaster county favorite Haydn Zugs Restaurant where he was employed as the executive chef for 15 yrs.
Byron & Dwayne will be driving the Buy Fresh Buy Local initiative using local farms such as Skyblu, Lehman’s, Deitz and Camelot Valley Farms. Not hungry for a full meal? Don’t you worry! They will also be offering a separate menu in the Tavern area with some delicious selections. Some items to look for are the Skyblu Farms skillet seared Angus ground beef w/ port wine glazed onions, hardwood smoked bacon & fontina cheese on a toasted brioche or fresh oysters on the half shell with Champagne Mignonette sauce just to name a few.
Among some other changes to look for will be on the lunch, dinner and dessert menus. Our offerings will be fresh and seasonal such as fresh daily seafood, dry aged Certified Angus Delmonico & New York Strip, and fresh seasonal dessert selections. Byron and Dwayne assured us that the Cream of Crab Soup, a local favorite of 25 yrs, will remain on the menu.
The Roosevelt Tavern will begin taking reservations for holiday parties beginning on November 22, 2011. Book your holiday party of 8 or more and receive 10% off of your food total! We look forward to seeing you then!
